Summary

Over the past few years, Brianna Wiest has gained renown for her deeply moving, philosophical writing。 This new compilation of her published work features pieces on why you should pursue purpose over passion, embrace negative thinking, see the wisdom in daily routine, and become aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life。 Some of these pieces have never been seen; others have been read by millions of people around the world。 Regardless, each will leave you thinking: this idea changed my life。

I listened to this as an audiobook, I'd be interested to read this as a paperback where I can stop and think about each revelation instead of it being blow past。 I listened to this as an audiobook, I'd be interested to read this as a paperback where I can stop and think about each revelation instead of it being blow past。 。。。more

A lot rethink aboutThis is a great book full of amazing insights for any occasion or time of life。 Every chapter has at least one golden nugget with some hitting harder than others。 Highly recommend。

It was a very easy read, and didn’t want to rush through as I enjoyed going over the points。 I would recommend reading as it does make you change the way you think, I will be using a few points in there and applying it to my life

Saskia

interesting thoughts, but could have been much shorter (pretty repetetive)

This books gives insight to different emotional topics。 Short and brief which means that reading a chapter is not long。 Some books are not meant for all public readers。 I mean that the style is quite informal not aimed for professional people who are devoted to the world of psychology。 101 shorts texts are fast-reading texts。 101 journals like a diary。 I feel closeness in her words。So, If you are a teenager or a young adult this book can give ‘some’ advice on certain emotional aspects。 But if yo This books gives insight to different emotional topics。 Short and brief which means that reading a chapter is not long。 Some books are not meant for all public readers。 I mean that the style is quite informal not aimed for professional people who are devoted to the world of psychology。 101 shorts texts are fast-reading texts。 101 journals like a diary。 I feel closeness in her words。So, If you are a teenager or a young adult this book can give ‘some’ advice on certain emotional aspects。 But if you are an adult and you to read a paper with more scientific proof, then this book is not an option。 。。。more

Some mediocre attempt at self - help。 Could of been 20 essays, they were all so simular。 Glad to see the back of this one。

I enjoyed the marvelous flow of this book, a collection of so many distinct yet fluid topics that together sharpened meaning as to how one can improve their thinking and priority for mental well-being。 This book should be in every home。 Wiest has given the world a stunning collection of art and value with this substantial (read: hearty and not cumbersome) volume of essays。 I'm grateful to have come across this epic find。 I enjoyed the marvelous flow of this book, a collection of so many distinct yet fluid topics that together sharpened meaning as to how one can improve their thinking and priority for mental well-being。 This book should be in every home。 Wiest has given the world a stunning collection of art and value with this substantial (read: hearty and not cumbersome) volume of essays。 I'm grateful to have come across this epic find。 。。。more

The first half is pretty good, but gets somewhat repetitive。 Some good sections for a coffee table book。 Makes you think

i think i'd recommend all my friends to read this book! well, even though it takes me one month to finish it but it's worth it。 The author writes it perfectly and learn a lot from this book。 highly recommended i think i'd recommend all my friends to read this book! well, even though it takes me one month to finish it but it's worth it。 The author writes it perfectly and learn a lot from this book。 highly recommended 。。。more

I did enjoy some of her essays, the ones that were thought-provoking, wise, and poetic, but as I was moving forward I did find them very repetitive, going over the same ideas in a monotone and not-so-enjoyable way。 Her philosophy is simple and witty, yet corny at times, for that reason, I would definitely recommend this one to a younger audience (people in their early teen years perhaps), other than that, it is inspiring, but just get ready to read about the same ideas expressed in slightly diff I did enjoy some of her essays, the ones that were thought-provoking, wise, and poetic, but as I was moving forward I did find them very repetitive, going over the same ideas in a monotone and not-so-enjoyable way。 Her philosophy is simple and witty, yet corny at times, for that reason, I would definitely recommend this one to a younger audience (people in their early teen years perhaps), other than that, it is inspiring, but just get ready to read about the same ideas expressed in slightly different ways。 。。。more

Gooosh, loved every minute of reading this book。 It blew my mind in so many occasions and it just really relieves you about a lot of topics。 I can't believe people are giving this one or two stars because the author is YOUNG or because the author in general。 She talked lots of truths in this, things that we all go through and I felt identified in so many levels。 Loved the essays, all 101 of them。 Gooosh, loved every minute of reading this book。 It blew my mind in so many occasions and it just really relieves you about a lot of topics。 I can't believe people are giving this one or two stars because the author is YOUNG or because the author in general。 She talked lots of truths in this, things that we all go through and I felt identified in so many levels。 Loved the essays, all 101 of them。 。。。more

I'm gonna start taking a shot every time I read a book in my to-read list and find out it's just another version of "the subtle art of not giving a f*ck"。 Also, where are the essays??? Some of the essays are decent, others are repetitive and generic。 The topic organization in the book is also nonexistent。

A lot of people are commenting on the age of the author and I don’t think that’s A fair way to assess the book。。。 some people experience tmore at a young age than any of those older ever will。 But I do think is that a lot of the things she writes about are very simplistic and not elaborate as well as blatantly obvious。 What I was expecting was more of a self-help book but all of these are lessons that as someone the same age as her really I figured i out in my late teens。 Some essays are much be A lot of people are commenting on the age of the author and I don’t think that’s A fair way to assess the book。。。 some people experience tmore at a young age than any of those older ever will。 But I do think is that a lot of the things she writes about are very simplistic and not elaborate as well as blatantly obvious。 What I was expecting was more of a self-help book but all of these are lessons that as someone the same age as her really I figured i out in my late teens。 Some essays are much better written than others I disagree about the comments made by other is about the best essays in the ones with good sources but a large that’s why I’m only givingm us three stars because I was expecting a bit more of a “revelation” so to speak。 。。。more

I could give you 101 reasons not to read this book but I don’t want to turn into this author。 This book was awful。 It was even more tedious as an audiobook。 What I had hoped would be an informative collection of essays turned out to be a haphazard cut and paste of other people’s ideas。 Ideas that I’ve read in other self-help and productivity books done in a much more considered, rigorous, and cohesive manner。 This is basically chapter after chapter of a countdown。 It’s like listening to endless I could give you 101 reasons not to read this book but I don’t want to turn into this author。 This book was awful。 It was even more tedious as an audiobook。 What I had hoped would be an informative collection of essays turned out to be a haphazard cut and paste of other people’s ideas。 Ideas that I’ve read in other self-help and productivity books done in a much more considered, rigorous, and cohesive manner。 This is basically chapter after chapter of a countdown。 It’s like listening to endless Buzzfeed listicles stitched together for 12 hours。 So many chapters were repetitions of previous chapters - in some cases, almost word for word。 This is just a Frankenstein book of self-help ideas with some navel gazing commentary inbetween。 I regret not DNFing this。 。。。more

The essays are hit or miss。 I tried to be diligent and read one a day thinking it would give me a better outlook in the morning, but eventually started to become a chore。 The essays feel repetitive after a while and don’t bring a new perspective, and instead might give a new outlook in the the first 10 and just has numerous essays that have different titles but say the same thing。 It doesn’t bring a new outlook, more just reinforces an idea previously stated。

Aulya

Its not what I expected the book is about, but in a good way。 I thought alot of new interesting perspective about the way a person should see and handle things。 But the book is kind repetitive eventho its good。 So from the last half part of the book is little bit boring for me。

Paula

I managed to make it through 9 1/2 essays but after that I just couldn’t pretend to care any more。

Deanna

I loved this so much。 Will definitely be reading again with a new pack of page tabs。 Amazing

Skylar

This was a real eye opener。 The chapters are short and I found myself really questioning the way I think about a lot of things。

when i first started reading this book i could relate every word back to my own life and could not put it down。 i understand everything she was trying to say and felt very enlightened。 however, the more i read, the more i realized it was quite repetitive and contradictory。 i still learned a ton from the book and am happy i read it, but i could’ve stopped after the first 50 essays。
